Captain Cat joined the army.

He went in when nobody was looking.

貓上校趁人不注意的時(shí)候來(lái)到了軍營(yíng)。

The soldiers marched in a parade."Left, right—left, right..."

士兵們排著隊(duì)齊步往前走?！白笥摇易?..”

Captain Cat kept in step.

He knew one foot from the other.

貓上校和他們一起齊步走。

他知道該如何一步接一步的走。

"That cat has more stripes than we have,"said a corporal to a sergeant.

“那只貓身上的條紋比我們得多，”下士對(duì)中士說(shuō)。

"Meow," said Captain Cat.Another sergeant looked at the cat."Yes, sir!" he said and laughed.

“喵嗚，”貓上校說(shuō)。另一位中士看著貓，“是的，長(zhǎng)官!”他邊說(shuō)邊笑。

From then on everybody started saying,“Here.Captain Cat,”when they wanted him,instead of “Here,kitty kitty.”

從那時(shí)起，每個(gè)人都在找他的時(shí)候開(kāi)始稱呼他“這里，貓上校，”而不是用“過(guò)來(lái)，小貓咪?！?/span>

But sometimes the soldiers had no time for Captain Cat.

“I have to clean the bathrooms,”said one soldier.

但是有時(shí)候，士兵們沒(méi)有時(shí)間和貓上校多做交流。“我得去打掃廁所啦，”一個(gè)士兵說(shuō)。

“I have to sweep the grounds,”said another soldier.

“我得擦地，”另一個(gè)士兵說(shuō)。

One soldier named Pete always found time for Captain Cat,even when he was on guard duty.

一位名叫Pete的士兵經(jīng)常騰出時(shí)間和貓上校相處，甚至在他執(zhí)勤的時(shí)候。

“You remind me of a cat back home,”he said,and scratched Captain Cat behind the ears.

“你讓我想起一只回家的貓，”他說(shuō)著，并抓抓貓上校的耳朵后面。

The general made Pete do kitchen duty.Captain Cat kept him company.Pete let Captain Cat play with the potato peels.

將軍讓Pete去廚房做值日。貓上校陪伴著Pete。Pete貓上校和馬鈴薯皮玩兒。

“Are you my buddy?”asked Pete.

“Me-ow，”said Captain Cat.

“你是我的好兄弟嗎?”Pete問(wèn)?！斑?，”貓上校說(shuō)。

The next morning a bugle blew.Oh,how Pete hated to get up!

But Captain Cat sprang right out of bed.

第二天早晨吹響號(hào)角，哦，Pete討厭起床。但是貓上校突然從床上跳了下來(lái)。

He had to check out the garbage before it was taken away.

他需要在垃圾桶被收走前檢查一下垃圾桶。

Then it was time for inspeaction Everybody lined up.

Captain Cat lined up,too.

然后到了檢查的時(shí)間，大家開(kāi)始排隊(duì)，貓上校也加入了排隊(duì)。

The general fixed a soldier's gun.He fixed Pete's hat.

將軍修理了一名士兵的槍，他還整理了Pete的帽子。

All he could fix for Captain Cat were his whiskers.

“Forward march!”said the general.

但他只能為貓上校修理他的胡須。“齊步走!”將軍說(shuō)。

The soldiers went one way.Captain Cat went the other way.He had to chase some birds.

士兵們走一條路，貓上校走另一條。他要追幾只鳥兒。

The soldiers crawled in the mud.They hiked through rain and sleet.

士兵們?cè)谀嗟乩锞徛斑M(jìn)，他們徒步穿過(guò)雨夾雪和冰雹。

But not Captain Cat!He was taking a nap on Pete's bed.

但隊(duì)伍中沒(méi)有貓上校，他當(dāng)時(shí)正在Pete的床上打盹兒呢。

Time for chow!Pete and the other soldiers rushed into the mess hall to get plates of nice,hot food.

Captain Cat wished Pete would get him a plate with a mouse.

是時(shí)候去食堂打飯啦!Pete和其他士兵沖進(jìn)食堂，買了一些好吃的熱食。

貓上校希望Pete能給他在餐盤上放一只老鼠。

“Are you my buddy?”asked Pete.“Me-ow，”said Captain Cat.

“你是我的好哥們嗎?”Pete問(wèn)。“喵~”貓上校說(shuō)答道。

Lights out!Everyone went to sleep and dreamed of loved ones.

熄燈了!每個(gè)人都開(kāi)始睡覺(jué)了，夢(mèng)見(jiàn)了親人。

Captain Cat dreamed of his loved one,too.

貓上校也夢(mèng)到了他的親人。
